President, Beach Cities Republicans
Arthur Schaper is in his second term as the President for the Beach Cities Republicans. He is a blogger, writer, and commentator on topics both timeless and timely; political, cultural, and eternal. A life-long Southern California resident, Arthur currently lives in Torrance. As President of Beach Cities Republicans, he seeks to engage the conservative base, expand the party's influence, and enlarge Republican registration and representation in the South Bay and throughout California.
Peter Michel is in his first term as the 2nd Vice-President for the Beach Cities Republicans. I have been in the role of Secretary/Treasurer for the previous three years.
A lifelong Republican, Peter was not too involved in local politics until 2008 when he started his intense involvement after observing the direction that his beloved California and nation were headed.
Peter is a Small Business Owner which has several business opportunities that include a small Film/TV Production Company, The City of Hermosa Beach, All City Management Services and a driver for UBER & LYFT.
Peter’s professional background includes working in the production department in the Television industry leading to the position of Production Coordinator for Cox Communications. He also I active volunteer in the Los Angeles County Cooperative 4-H Extension serving a co-community club leader for the Palos Verdes Peninsula 4-H Club for 20 years. Peter is also a active volunteer for American Camper Association and volunteers his time every year at 4-H Summer Camp in the San Bernardino Mountains at Camp Seely.
Peter is a native Californian, raised in Palos Verdes Estates by wonderful parents and has two siblings. I have lived in South Bay for 40 years. Peter holds a M.F.A. in Film & Television Production with an emphasis in Producing and a B.F.A. in Film & Television in Production from Chapman University, Orange, CA and enjoys traveling and spending his valuable time with his dog Scooby-Doo.
Tracy J. Hopkins is in her first term as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Beach Cities Republicans. She more actively joined local politics in 2009 when she became aware of her city government's efforts to expand their reach into the lives of residents by passing a local ordinance that seemed unnecessary.
Tracy helped to establish the MOMS Club (Mom's Offering Mom's Support) in the South Bay in the mid 1990s, becoming its first Vice-President and later Co-President. It has since grown to a thriving support group for stay-at-home moms throughout the area. Tracy co-founded and leads the volunteer run Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Watch (HBNW). The group expanded to approximately 100 block captains in the first 3 years. The HBNW is now in its 10th year of serving the community. Tracy worked with the city to establish the Hermosa
Beach Emergency Preparedness Advisory Commission and was appointed by city council as one of the first commissioners and has served two terms of 4 years each.
Tracy is also a specialist on the Emergency Preparedness committee for her church (LDS), covering several cities in the South Bay. She helped to introduce and currently provides training for the 9 step disaster response training program - Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) which has been adopted throughout the South Bay, L.A. and Harbor area. The program helps to connect neighbors and train them how to secure their home and protect
their neighborhood immediately following a disaster.
Tracy is married to her husband Mark, an engineer who works for a local aerospace company. They have been married for 27 years and have lived in Hermosa Beach for 24 years. Tracy is a stay-at-home mom. She enjoys keeping informed about current events that concern the protection of our freedoms outlined in the United States Constitution and she enjoys sharing information with others.
Tracy enjoys walks on the beach, occasional body boarding sessions with her husband, and
is active in her church and community.
